Todd County 4-H Club member Emma Petrie is a gold award recipient, given to the top 30 high schoolers in the state through the 4-H achievement program.
The Kentucky 4-H Achievement Program was created to reward ambitious, hard-working young people throughout the state. In the highly-competitive program, students accumulate points as early as 10 years old — and continue to build success through accomplishments in 4-H and their community.
4-H’ers can start accumulating points as soon as they start 4-H and begin earning recognition by 10 years of age.
Each district can submit 10 applicants for the gold award. Of the 70 statewide applicants, 30 are selected. The competitive program consists of a 40% application score and a 60% panel interview portion.
Petrie has an extensive record of all her 4-H events, activities, and leadership accomplishments. She will represent Todd County 4-H and Kentucky 4-H at the National 4-H Congress in Atlanta, GA this November and will receive her award, as well as an all-expense, paid trip to the Kentucky 4-H Teen Conference in June at the University of Kentucky.
