Woman Arrested In Connection To 2006 Christian County Murder

A woman wanted in connection to a 2006 murder in Christian County was arrested in Union County Wednesday morning.

According to the Union County Sheriff’s Office, they were notified by the U.S. Marshal Service about an outstanding arrest warrant on a person believed to be residing in Union County. The indictment warrant out of Christian County is for the murder and robbery of a man in Christian County in 2006.

Around 6:00 Wednesday morning, the Union County Sheriff’s Office and Sturgis Police K-9 Unit served the warrant on Lashanda Bell, also known as Lashanda Person, at a residence on KY 109 in Sturgis. She was lodged in the Webster County Jail where she will be transported to Christian County to face murder and first-degree robbery charges.

The Christian County Sheriff’s Office reports 55-year old Regina Vause was also arrested on May 3 and charged with murder and first-degree robbery.

Public Information Officer Chris Miller reports the arrests came after the Christian County Sheriff’s Office reopened cold case. He says on April 12, 2006, deputies were called to 2255 Greenville Road regarding a deceased male. When detectives arrived on the scene they discovered the body of 84-year old Roscoe Mayes. Investigators determined that Mayes had died from blunt force trauma and the investigation was deemed a homicide.

Miller says the investigation into the cold case is ongoing and more arrests are expected.
