A Clarksville man was charged with assault after a shot was fired during an altercation on Clay Street in Trigg County Wednesday afternoon.
Trigg County Sheriff Aaron Acree says 21-year-old Ethan Riddle assaulted his father and fired a shot hitting his father in the back during an altercation over family issues.
The father reportedly suffered non-life-threatening injuries to his face, back, and head and he was taken to the hospital by private vehicle. The Christian County Sheriff’s Office was asked to help locate Riddle who was heading toward Christian County.
Riddle returned to talk with law enforcement after being called by his mother and reportedly told them he never meant to hurt his father.
Acree says his department is investigating the shooting but added the Christian County Sheriff’s Office assisted in collecting evidence and processing the scene because they arrived in the area after attempting to locate Riddle.
Riddle was arrested and charged with first-degree assault.
