Historic WKY Heat Wave Possible Next Week

Don’t pack away the air conditioners or adjust the thermostat just yet. One last heat wave is on the way before fall truly shows its colors.

According to officials with the National Weather Service out of Paducah, the potential is high for record-breaking heat Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday of next week across west Kentucky.

On Monday, temperatures will range from 90-to-97 degrees, with Tuesday and Wednesday possibly reaching to 100.

While evenings will be much cooler, between 65 and 71, daily heat indices will crest between 97 and 104.

These temperatures are considered unseasonably warm for this time of year, and could catch some off guard. The National Weather Service is advising everyone to check in on elderly or ill family members and neighbors, limit strenuous outdoor activity to early morning or evening hours, take frequent breaks if one must be outside — and refrain from leaving children or pets in unattended vehicles.
