Board Approves Bid for Weapons Detection Systems

The Christian County school board approved the 2022-23 graduation date for both high schools at Thursday night’s board meeting, along with approving a bid to purchase weapons detection systems for three schools.

The board unanimously approved Melanie Barrett, director of pupil personnel’s request to set Friday, May 26th as the graduation date for the Class of 2023, with Christian County High School graduating at 5:00 p.m. and Hopkinsville High School at 8:30 p.m. at the Stadium of Champions.

Assistant Superintendent of Instruction, Josh Hunt asked the board to approve the proposed bid from ERS Wireless for the weapons detection systems for Christian County High School, Hopkinsville High School and Bluegrass Learning Academy. His request was followed by Dr. Wilson explaining why they were recommending ERS Wireless with the goal of finding a system that increased safety on campuses while maintaining normal traffic flow that was both safe and efficient. From their observations, Wilson said they felt the Motorola system did that sufficiently.
