Warren Beeler, known as Mr. Agriculture in Kentucky, brought a message of thanks and appreciation to farmers and members of the agribusiness community in Christian County during the Salute to Agriculture breakfast at the Bruce Convention Center.
Beeler, who formerly served as the Governor’s Office of Ag Policy Director under Governers Matt Bevin and Andy Beshear, stressed the importance of communicating the agriculture message.
Beeler says innovation in agriculture needs to continue to meet future demands.
Beeler said it is also important to find the right person for a project, one example he cited was a project in Letcher County to build a commercial kitchen.
He adds being able to prepare for the future is important.
Following Beeler’s remarks and the award presentations, the Christian County 4-H Country Ham basket was bought by H & R Agripower, Hutson, and Farm Credit Mid America for $30,000 during the annual fundraising auction conducted by Ben Bolinger and Bolinger Real Estate and Auction.
Also during the breakfast, Hopkinsville FFA Officer Eva Blankenberger presented her speech about communicating the message of agriculture that recently earned her a first place finish at the Pennyrile Region FFA Day and a chance to compete at the Kentucky FFA Convention in June.
Christian County Judge Executive Jerry Gilliam, Hopkinsville Mayor J. R. Knight, and Oak Grove Mayor Jackie Oliver read a proclamation declaring the week of March 20th Agriculture Week in Christian County.
And Hopkinsville Rotary President Andrew Wilson and 2023 Auction Chairman Brandon Killebrew discussed the club’s efforts to help fund the Troy Goode Memorial Scholarship.
