Cadiz Rotary Club Hoping For Huge Friday Night To Close Auction

The Cadiz Rotary Club is hoping the community will respond one more night to help close out the 2023 Radio Auction in grand style.

Rotary Auction Chairman and President Alana Baker-Dunn says community response to the annual auction that returned to in-person this year at the Cadiz Baptist Church Annex has been great.

click to download audioThe auction begins at six, with Genesis Express selling fish and all the trimmings starting at 5:00.

Meanwhile, the 2023 Cadiz Rotary Club auction received a record amount of donations from Trigg County Public Schools.

During night four of the annual auction, educators presented donations to the club collected over the last few months.

Primary school principal Lindsey Kinslow said their students have a great time raising funds.

click to download audioMiddle school principal Amy Breckel said they hosted a school-wide dance, a first in recent years.

click to download audioThe middle school raised a record $7,000. The high school raked in $5,000, with the bulk from the annual dodgeball tournament. In total, the district raised a record $28,070.

The youth fundraising was not only done with those older than five. The Cadiz Baptist Church Christian Academy also pitched in and collected money for the rotary club.

Tanna Bush, director of the daycare, said they raised three times the goal she had set.

click to download audioAs for the auction, Thursday night brought in nearly $51,000 in Century Club donations, $8,961 for live auction items, and over $16,800 from the WKDZ Big Deals store. Friday night will start with a $15,000 match for Century Club donations.
