Traffic Stop Leads To Drug Trafficking Charges

A Dawson Springs man was charged with trafficking drugs after a traffic stop on Buckley Drive in Hopkinsville Friday night.

Christian County Sheriff’s deputies say they stopped 28-year-old Cody Roche for a headlight out and during the stop, found him to have two active warrants, no insurance, and the wrong license plate on the vehicle.

After a search of the vehicle, used syringes, multiple cut straws with a white residue on them, suspected meth, synthetic marijuana, and a pipe were reportedly found.

Deputies say Roche admitted to putting some of the drugs in the female passenger’s purse in hopes she would not get searched.

He was arrested and while at the jail, Roche was reportedly found to have 30 suspected fentanyl pills.

Roche is charged with no registration plates, failure of owner to maintain required insurance, display of illegal/altered registration plate, possession of meth, possession of synthetic drugs, trafficking fentanyl, first-degree promoting contraband, and tampering with physical evidence.
