Back To Back Continues Tradition Of Supporting Families In Need At Christmas

Thursday, Friday, and Saturday were busy days for the Back to Back volunteers, with founder Brice Long talking with Your News Edge about this year’s efforts.

Founder Brice Long said this is the 19th year for the program which just helped out families in Trigg and Christian counties until adding Todd County about five years ago.

The idea came to Long after his first #1 country radio single with Gary Allan and “Nothing On But The Radio,” which reached that position in December 2004.

Lane Gamble, who has volunteered with the organization since he was at least eight years old, is learning everything he possibly can to carry on the giving tradition.

One thing that has become abundantly clear over the years – it’s not just the local three-county area that has embraced the program. The Nashville country music community has truly stepped up to help with the annual songwriters show held each summer at the Alhambra Theatre in Hopkinsville.

Volunteers, including Brent and Julie Gilkey, and Long’s wife Carrie will hand out gifts to Christian County families on Saturday. The organization handed out gifts to Todd County families on Thursday.
