Guilty Plea Entered by Sims in Hopkinsville Home Invasion Case

One of the five men charged in connection to a June 2021 home invasion entered a plea in Christian County Circuit Court Friday morning.

Michael Sims, along with his defense attorney Sands Chewning, and Commonwealth’s Attorney Maureen Leamy appeared before Judge John Atkins Friday morning, where Leamy presented the plea agreement.

click to download audioJudge Atkins also agreed to a request by Chewning that his client be released until his formal sentencing on January 31st.

click to download audioSims, along with Isaiah Campbell, Marshall Austin II, Ajaizion Johnson, and Korey Zivotin were all charged with robbery in connection to the June 16, 2021 home invasion on Glass Avenue at the residence of 72-year old Charles “Birddog” Paige. Police said one of the suspects exchanged gunfire with Paige during the robbery. No one was injured in the shooting and the suspects fled the area before officers arrived.

In June, Zivotin was sentenced to 10 years in prison on a second-degree robbery charge for his role in the home invasion. However, he was on probation for an unrelated felony assault charge at the time of the home invasion and Judge Atkins tacked on an additional 10 years for a total of 20 years behind bars.
