bookstore-1-1-1

The Trigg County High School Wildcat Den is a school-based enterprise — serving as an entrepreneurial operation providing goods and services to meet the needs of a market.

It’s also one of 728 such efforts earning gold-level certification for the 2023-24 school year, and it will be recognized during DECA’s International Career Development Conference set for April 27-30 in Anaheim, California.

In order to create a hands-on learning experience, SBE’s are managed and operated by students — students looking to learn about marketing, finance, hospitality and management.

TCHS DECA members who contributed to the certification: Chandlar Wilson, Chloe McGraw and DECA Chapter Advisor Andrea Hampton.

According to DECA.org, SBEs provide “realistic and practical learning experiences that reinforce classroom instruction,” and they can sell consumers a number of products like spirit wear, food and beverage items, school supplies, signs and banners, but also more abstract services like creative design and advertising.

This year’s sample gold-level certification presentation from DECA.org was a 36-page color booklet, and the garnered award provides recognition for outstanding achievement.
