The Christian County Colonels got a bit defensive Friday night. Christian County held Madison Central to less than 10 points in each of the first three quarters as the Colonels built a big lead and rolled to a 48-32 win in Lyle Dunbar Gym.

Derrell Bateman outscored the Indians by himself over the first 8 minutes of the game. Bateman hit for seven points as Christian County took a 16-5 lead. The Colonels limited Madison Central to one three-pointer and one 2-point shot over the first eight minutes.

The Christian County defense kept the lid on in the second quarter as well. The Colonels held the Indians to just two field goals and two free throws as they extended the lead to 25-11. Bateman again outscored the Indians, adding 7 more points to his total to give him 14 at the half.

Bateman did not outscore Madison Central in the third. He tied them. The senior big man scored 6 of the Colonels’ ten points in the quarter as Christian County came out of the break and pushed the lead out to 35-17.

Madison Central nearly equaled their output of the first three quarters in the fourth, but it was far too little to late as Christian County took the 16 point win.

Derrell Bateman finished the night with 25 points for Christian County. Jordan Miles also reached double figures with 10.

Will Richardson was the only double-digit scorer for Madison Central with 10 points.

Christian County (13-15) has now won four in a row and seven of its last eight. The Colonels wrap up the regular season Saturday night taking on Calloway County.
