The severe storm threat is increasing for western Kentucky late Monday night into Tuesday.

Weather Edge forecaster David Powell says a low-pressure area and a strong cold front are contributing factors.

Powell adds there are heightened concerns with these storms.

Following this system and the passage of the cold front overnight lows could dip to near freezing once more.

As skies clear up Wednesday and Thursday, highs will reach the mid-50s, and Friday will be around 60. By Sunday, lower-70s will be possible with plenty of sunshine.
