A Hopkinsville man was charged after he allegedly fought officers as they investigated a report of a disturbance on Charlie Court Monday night.

Hopkinsville Police say they were called for a report of a disturbance involving 24-year-old Jamarcus McGregor who was banging on his ex-girlfriend’s door and threatening to burn down her apartment.

When officers arrived, he reportedly gave them a false name, resisted arrest by kicking and hitting them, made threats toward officers, fled on foot, kicked the officer’s cruiser door, and tried to force his way out of the vehicle.

He was arrested and charged with second-degree fleeing or evading police, second-degree disorderly conduct, resisting arrest, and third-degree assault of a police officer. McGregor was also found to have warrants for failure to appear.
