Christian County Public Schools officials have announced students from both Christian County High and Hopkinsville High that have been selected to attend Governor’s School for the Arts (GSA).

This year’s designees: Aine Dunn and Lacey Stewart from Christian County, and Andrew Buxton from Hopkinsville.

In a written statement, Superintendent Chris Bentzel said CCPS was “extremely proud” of the students selected, as GSA offers “a platform for students to express their gifts and talents through summer enrichment opportunities.”

The Governor’s School for the Arts is composed of nine different art disciplines. It began in 1987 to support Kentucky high school students who excel in the fine arts. The three-week-long program is open to aspiring high school sophomores and juniors in Kentucky, and is valued at nearly $4,000 per student.

However, there is no cost to the participants for the program.
