Accounting Assistant needed – Job Description and Skills listed.

Accounting
• Manage outgoing bills / invoices and incoming payments, establish accounts, and assign entries to the general ledger weekly.
• Audit invoices against purchase orders and packing lists, research discrepancies, and approve for payment and invoicing.
• Review data and documents for accurate entry and calculation.
• Complete monthly closing, yearly closing, bank reconciliations, and internal audits.
• Coordinate with external accounting firms to prepare for and address tax related issues.
• Verify hours, withholding tax, and other information to detect and reconcile payroll discrepancies.
• Compose profit and loss reports, accounting records, balance sheets, and other statements.
• Report to management about financial matters on daily, monthly, and yearly basis.
• Answer and prepare data for internal and external clients as needed.
• Research and process charge backs, returns, refunds, freight charges, cost of lost or damaged goods, bad checks, and similar items.
• Support and follow through with plans for ISO and OSHA compliance.
• Perform other miscellaneous duties within the office.
Skills
• Must be proficient with accounting software (such as QuickBooks)
• Must have knowledge of Windows, MS office products (Excel, Word).
Physical Requirements / Work Environment Requirements
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, occasionally required to stand, walk, and reach with hands and arms. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
Minimum Qualifications
• A High School Diploma and 3 – 5 years’ experience in AR / AP or accounting related duty or degree in accounting is required.
