Hundreds of youth and their families lined the shores of the lake and Little River at Jeffers Bend Saturday to enjoy the 23rd annual Take Kids Fishing Day.
Pennyrile RC&D Coordinator Charles Turner says the first year of the event was 1999 and it has continued to grow each year.

click to download audioIn addition, this year Turner says they were blessed to have a company that provided rod and reels along with some of the bait. Each child that participated also received a t-shirt, hot dog and bottle of water.
According to Turner, they have approximately 40 sponsors for the Take Kids Fishing event.
