Murray State University and Christian County Public Schools announced Thursday a partnership to provide additional dual credit opportunities for students who will attend four-year universities.
Called the “MSU Racer Academy,” it will be located at the Murray State University – Hopkinsville Regional Campus, and will support dual credit courses that are generally offered to college freshmen.
Chris Bentzel, CCPS superintendent, said providing CCPS students with multiple opportunities to tailor their coursework to their postsecondary goals is “critical,” and that they are excited to launch Racer Academy in the district, and eager to see the program thrive and expand.
Students will have access to Racer Academy dual credit courses starting in August 2025. The dual credit courses offered to students at MSU qualify for the dual credit tuition rate of $95 a credit hour and are eligible for the state-provided Dual Credit Scholarship. The partnership builds on dual credit coursework already implemented in CCPS for Agriculture and Teaching & Learning.
Newly appointed Director of the MSU – Hopkinsville Regional Campus, Shannon Slate noted the launch of Racer Academy in partnership with Christian County Public Schools does mark an exciting milestone for the institutions coming together as a shared commitment to student success.
Furthermore, Slate said this dual credit opportunity will empower high school students to jumpstart their college education, saving time and money while gaining a valuable Murray State experience at the Hopkinsville campus.
Last month, CCPS announced the expansion of programming focused on new dual credit pathways at Hopkinsville Community College centered around career and technical education.
