In the aftermath of a weekend of severe weather, Christian County Schools Superintendent Chris Bentzel says the district was fortunate to avoid major damage.
Power was briefly lost in areas like Crofton and Pembroke but has since been restored. Bentzel says facilities were thoroughly checked, and all campuses are open as students begin their final week of school.
The district is preparing for graduation ceremonies this Friday, May 23rd, with Christian County High School set for 5 p.m. and Hopkinsville High at 8:30 p.m. at the Stadium of Champions. Safety measures will include bag checks and weapon detection systems.
If weather forces the ceremonies indoors, each senior will receive four tickets for gymnasium entry. Live streaming will be available—unless ceremonies are moved inside.
