Dr. Jerry Taylor Hart, 84, of Kuttawa

Dr. Jerry Taylor Hart, born on June 12, 1941, in Louisville, KY, passed away peacefully on September 9, 2025, at the age of 84 in Kuttawa, KY.

Jerry was an obstetrician-gynecologist in Hopkinsville, KY for 41 years where he delivered over 11,000 babies. He loved being a doctor and especially loved his patients, nurses, and staff. More than anything, though, he loved his wife Barbara from the time he was 16 years old.

Jerry is survived by his wife Barbara Dunlap Hart, his three children, Dr. Susan Wyatt (Dr. John Oldershaw), Amy Angell (Martin), and Jerry Taylor Hart, Jr. as well as his six grandchildren, Amanda (Jay), Justin (Cara), Andrew (Abbie), Owen, Abigail, and Isabella, and his five great grandchildren, Addy, Ellie, Lucy, Josie, and Theo.

After Jerry graduated from University of Tennessee Medical School, he served in the United States Air Force in Okinawa, Japan as a general medical doctor for 3 ½ years; there he earned the rank of Major. Upon his discharge, he moved to Macon, Georgia for his medical residency and afterward to Hopkinsville to start his OB/GYN practice.

In his younger years, Jerry loved playing racquetball, attending his children’s swimming events, driving fast, and traveling. He also enjoyed following his ancestry and was an active member of the Sons of the American Revolution and the Jamestown Society.

Jerry will be cremated and requested a private family service. He hopes that his many patients and friends will remember him with the same love he had for them.
