Gov. Andy Beshear has announced $7.75 million in funding for 17 bridge projects across 13 Kentucky counties and three cities as part of the County and City Bridge Improvement Program.

The projects will repair, replace, or preserve bridges that are currently closed or restricted, improving safety and restoring vital connections for families, schools, and businesses.

This is the fourth round of awards since the program launched in 2025. To date, $32.6 million has been invested in 75 projects across the state. The latest awards cover 12 full replacements and five repairs or preservation projects, all identified as urgent needs by Kentucky Transportation Cabinet engineers.

Recipients include:

  • Barren County Fiscal Court
  • Calloway County Fiscal Court
  • City of Georgetown
  • City of Winchester
  • City of Wurtland
  • Crittenden County Fiscal Court
  • Graves County Fiscal Court

Among the highlights:

  • Trigg County will receive $620,000 to replace a restricted bridge on North Tanyard Road. The new 72-foot bridge will modernize the structure and eliminate a mile-long detour.
  • Letcher County will receive $811,000 to replace an outdated bridge on Bill Lewis Hollow, restoring safe access for the community.
  • Washington County will receive $900,000 to replace a five-ton limit bridge on Sulfur Lick Road, removing a six-mile detour for residents and school buses.

Trigg County Judge-Executive Stan Humphries offered his thanks to the Governor’s office during a short Thursday afternoon digital presentation.

The program was created under House Bill 265, setting aside $25 million for bridge improvements in both the 2025 and 2026 fiscal years.

Funding supports local governments in addressing bridges that would otherwise remain closed or restricted due to costs beyond their budgets.
