A report of shoplifting at the Dollar General on East 9th Street led to charges for two women on Wednesday morning.
Hopkinsville Police say they were called for 43-year-old Carla Taylor and 35-year-old Chelsea Coleman, who were taking beauty supplies and putting them in a purse while one of them distracted the clerk.
They both reportedly left in a vehicle that law enforcement stopped on Belmont Street, and inside the purse, a gun and marijuana were found as well.
The stolen items have a value of $39. They were both arrested and charged with theft by unlawful taking, possession of marijuana, and possession of a handgun by a convicted felon. Taylor was also charged with no registration plates and no insurance.
