
A Hopkinsville man was charged with fleeing from law enforcement and holding a woman against her will on East 7th Street Saturday afternoon.
Hopkinsville Police say 56-year-old Walter Lewis was armed with a knife, threatened to kill a woman if she didn’t sit with him, threatened to kill homeless people, and threatened to kill himself.
When law enforcement arrived, he reportedly fled on foot before being apprehended and had slurred speech while appearing to be under the influence of some kind of substance.
Lewis was arrested and charged with menacing, third-degree terroristic threatening, first-degree unlawful imprisonment, public intoxication, and third-degree fleeing or evading police.
