Officials with the Trigg County Sheriff’s Office announced Monday afternoon that tax bills have been mailed out in the last week.
However, since then, a printing error has been discovered with one of the bill’s batches.
Trigg County PVA Lauren Fowler said that when you receive your bill, there will be a Bill No. above your name. Flipping the bill over, that same number should also be in the top left corner.
However, it’s possible it could be a different bill number, and if it is, this is incorrect.
Fowler confirmed that a printing and collation issue mixed a batch, and the error was missed.
Fowler said she and her office are working hard to correct the issue, and that while all bills are correct online, she knows it is imperative property owners have a sterling version of the printed documents.
Out of the 19,000-plus bills printed and mailed, Fowler said there would be about “1,200 or so” that unfortunately have errors — less than 10% of the documents prepared.
Those with questions on their bill should call the Sheriff’s office at (270) 522-6014 or the PVA office at (270) 522-3271.
You can also check correct bills online at triggcounty.ky.gov.
NOTE: The new tax bill will have an actual stamp on it and not just the postcard like the old one. That will be how you can tell the difference. And they are being sent out Tuesday. If you have more questions, call Lauren Fowler.
