Nancy McGuire, 86, of Hopkinsville

Nancy Mason McGuire, age 86, of Hopkinsville, passed away on Thursday, October 9, 2025, at her residence of natural causes. Funeral Services will be at 1:00 PM on Tuesday, October 14, 2025, at Hillcrest Baptist Church with Donald Marsh officiating and Joe Bufford assisting with burial to follow in Kentucky Veterans Cemetery West. Visitation will be at the church on Tuesday, October 14, 2025, from 11:00 AM until the service time at 1:00 PM. Maddux-Fuqua-Hinton Funeral Home has been entrusted by the family to handle the arrangements.

Mrs. McGuire was born in Hopkinsville, KY, on January 29, 1939, the daughter of the late Arthur S. Mason and Hazel Loftus Mason. Mrs. McGuire graduated from Hopkinsville High School and Georgetown College and was a lifelong educator. She taught science at several schools, including Christian County High School, until she became a founding member at University Heights Academy. Mrs. McGuire served in many roles at UHA, including Chairwoman of the Science Department, Assistant Headmaster, and established the science curriculum for grades 7-12. She taught all the science courses to the students at UHA and received several awards for her passion for education, including the Norman J. Wiedmer Outstanding Teacher Award. To recognize her many contributions to the Academy, the Board of Trustees established an annual award in her name for the outstanding senior science student. She retired from University Heights Academy after 30 years. She was a member of Hillcrest Baptist Church. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Charles O. McGuire in 2011, her son, Charles David McGuire, and her sister, Alice Mason.

Survivors include her grandchildren, David Francis McGuire of Denver, CO, Jeannine (George) McGuire Stewart of Hixson, TN; her daughter-in-law, Nancy McGuire Vicki of Brentwood, TN; her sister, Jan (Bob) Michaud of Albuquerque, NM along with their daughters, Kristi Michaud Bast of Denver, CO, Melissa Michaud Kolar of Edgewood, NM; her niece, Vicki (Craig) Brown of Greenville, SC along with their children, Christina (Mike) Brown-Haugen of Denver, CO, Jennifer (Jeff) Brown Burgdorfer of Greenville, SC, and Jeff (Erin) Brown of Greenville, SC.

Flowers can be sent to Hillcrest Baptist Church, or memorial contributions can be made in her memory to the Challenge House at P.O. Box 462, Hopkinsville, KY 42241 for the Charlie McGuire Memorial Scholarship Fund or American Alzheimer’s Association at 6100 Dutchman’s Lane, Suite 40,1 Louisville, KY 40205.
