Tammy Elaine Copeland was born in Trigg County, KY, on August 24, 1973, to Richard and Ilene Moss McGee. She passed away peacefully on the afternoon of October 11, 2025 after a courageous battle with multiple myeloma.
Though her time on earth was far too short, her life was full of love, faith, and selflessness that touched all who knew her. Tammy expressed a love for the Lord at an early age, and she professed her faith in Him and was welcomed into the family of believers at Church Hill Baptist Church. She later united with Green Hill Baptist Church where she served as Sunday School Secretary, usher, and First Lady until her illness prevented her from attending in person
Tammy faced her illness with extraordinary grace and quiet strength. She rarely complained and, even on her hardest days, would gently reassure her loved ones with her familiar words: “I’m okay.” Her unwavering positivity and faith in God were an inspiration to everyone around her. She truly lived as a child of God, trusting Him completely throughout every season of her life.
She was the heart of her family — devoted to her husband, adoring of her sons and grandchildren, and deeply connected to her extended family and many friends. Tammy worked hard in all that she did and found joy in life’s simple pleasures — from following her favorite soap operas “Bold and the Beautiful” and “Young and the Restless” to discovering treasures through online shopping. From baking for family and friends to eating Sonic onion rings and Davo’s bacon cheeseburgers and deep fried Oreos, her thoughtful nature, kind heart, and gentle humor made her a bright light in the lives of so many.
Her absence leaves a tremendous void in our hearts, but we take comfort in knowing that she is now at peace and in the presence of the Lord she loved and trusted so dearly. Her legacy of love, faith, and kindness will continue to guide and inspire those she leaves behind.
Tammy is survived by her loving husband Byron Douglas Copeland; her sons Steven Owens, Jr., Elijahwa Long, and Byron Copeland, Jr.; her cherished grandchildren Jayce and Jabari Long, her father Richard (Donna) McGee; her brother Jordan McGee; her mother-in-law Sandra L. Copeland; several aunts and uncles; and many other family members and friends who will forever hold her in their hearts.
