Alarms sounded, and staff rushed to ready themselves and the hospital in preparation for a disaster with mass casualties on Wednesday morning.

According to Western State Hospital, the training is for them to be able to help the community in a mass casualty event by providing medical help to patients.

This training, they say, helps them learn about any problems that may happen and improve their abilities in working with other outside agencies.

The hospital added that the training is usually conducted in collaboration with other agencies, including the Hopkinsville Police Department, the Christian County Sheriff’s Office, Christian County EMS, the Hopkinsville Fire Department, Jennie Stuart Health, and other community organizations.
