A wreck on Fort Campbell Boulevard at Miller Mill Road sent two people to the hospital with severe injuries Wednesday afternoon.
Hopkinsville Police say at 4:05 pm, a van was northbound on Fort Campbell Boulevard when it collided with a car turning onto Fort Campbell Boulevard from Miller Mill Road.
The driver and passenger in the car were unresponsive and had to be cut from the vehicle before being taken by Hopkinsville EMS to Jennie Stuart Health, and the second to Tennova Healthcare.
Hopkinsville Fire Department Spokesman Captain Payton Rogers says they conducted a field cricothyrotomy which is an emergency surgical procedure to establish an airway on the driver, adding it’s an extremely risky and invasive procedure.
The driver was taken to Jennie Stuart Health but then transferred to a Nashville hospital. The driver of the van was not injured in the crash.
