Several groups are hoping to improve voter turnout in Christian County by educating through public events.
One such event was a Forum on the Vote Monday night hosted by Focus 21st Century and the Pennyrile RC&D Area Council.
Christian County Clerk Melinda Humphries told attendees that candidates can start filing as early as this week.
click to download audioShe encourages candidates to download forms from the Secretary of State’s website and review fees before coming to file. The last day for voters to change their party affiliation is December 31st. Anyone who will be 18 on or before the General Election, on November 3, 2026, can register to vote by April 20th and would be eligible to vote in the Primary Election.
Humphries says those who need assistance to vote are allowed to have it.
click to download audioIf the person can not bring someone with them, a democrat and a republican representative will jointly assist them. She adds the option for an absentee ballot is also available for anyone who will not be in the county on election day or for people who are homebound.
The County Clerk’s Office and the Election Committee are a wealth of knowledge.

To start the night, Focus 21st Century introduced the 2025-2026 Focus Now Class. This is the 3rd class of youth to participate in the program. This year’s class is
