Vivian Kem, 75, of Hopkinsville

Vivian Stewart Kem passed away peacefully on December 26, 2025, leaving behind a legacy defined by love, grace, and quiet strength. Born on February 17, 1950, Vivian lived a life devoted to others—as a loving wife, devoted mother, cherished grandmother, dedicated teacher, and beloved friend.

At the center of Vivian’s life was her enduring love for her husband, Mike. Married for 55 years, Vivian and Mike shared a bond rooted in devotion and unwavering partnership. Through every season of life—joyful milestones, everyday moments, and the challenges that came with illness—Vivian’s love for Mike was steadfast and visible to all who knew them.

For more than 25 years, Vivian courageously lived with multiple sclerosis. She faced each day with remarkable positivity and hope, never allowing the disease to define her spirit or diminish her joy. Her resilience and optimism were an inspiration to everyone around her.

Vivian retired after a long and meaningful career in education, where she made an impact on thousands of students and colleagues. She believed deeply in young people and had a rare ability to connect with them, encourage them, and leave a lasting impression far beyond the classroom.

Vivian never met a stranger. She had a natural gift for loving people—welcoming them openly and making each person feel valued. She loved others as wholeheartedly as she loved her family, with warmth and generosity.

Vivian was preceded in death by her parents, John Wesley and Roberta Stewart.

She is survived by her husband of 55 years, Michael Kem; her daughter, Natalie Blythe Kem Riggs, and husband Andy Riggs, along with their sons Andrew, Henry, and Sam; her son, Matthew Allen Kem, and wife Megan Kem, and their children, Lilly and Charlie; and her sister, Jackie Stewart King.

Vivian’s greatest joy was her family, and her love for them knew no bounds. Her legacy lives on through the lives she touched, the students she inspired, and the family who will carry her love, strength, and example forward.

Though she will be deeply missed, Vivian Stewart Kem’s life was one of purpose and enduring love. Her memory will remain a guiding light and a source of comfort to all who were blessed to know her.
