Above-normal temperatures are expected this week, followed by a mid-week increase in showers and a potential for severe weather on Friday.

Paducah NWS Meteorologist Rachel Trevino expects shower chances to increase Wednesday night and persist through Friday night, with total rainfall reaching up to 1.5 inches.

Trevino warned that the window for severe weather on Friday afternoon and evening will need to be closely watched.

Conditions are drying out across the area, with the most recent drought monitor now listing our region under the abnormally dry category. This drying trend follows the region’s seventh-driest December on record, during which many areas received a mere 1.5 inches of total rainfall.
