Aaron Arant, 51, of Cadiz

It is with profound solemnity and an enduring sense of loss that we record the passing of Aaron Arant, a man of quiet strength, steadfast integrity, and gentle spirit. Mr. Arant departed this life on Friday, January 2, 2026, at the age of 51.

Born on February 25, 1974, in Paducah, Kentucky, Aaron was a figure whose life was defined by a deep-seated sense of duty and an appreciation for the natural world. His commitment to service was evident early in his adulthood; at the age of nineteen, he enlisted in the United States Navy. This pivotal decision was emblematic of his character, driven by a desire for independence and a profound acceptance of responsibility. He served his country with distinction and was honorably discharged, carrying the discipline of military service into his civilian life.

Upon his return to civilian pursuits, Aaron focused on mastering a skilled trade. He earned a degree in HVAC technology from West Kentucky Community and Technical College, a credential that served as the foundation for a distinguished career as a Maintenance Mechanic III at Lake Barkley. In this capacity, Aaron was not merely a technician but a trusted artisan of his craft. He possessed a rare aptitude for complex mechanical systems, approaching repairs with a meticulous eye and a patient hand. He derived immense satisfaction from his vocation, particularly in the solitude and beauty of the outdoors, where his work allowed him to engage directly with the elements he so admired.

To those who knew him, Aaron was a man of remarkable temperament-calm, unhurried, and possessed of a laid-back demeanor that put others instantly at ease. He was a listener of the highest order, offering a presence that was both comforting and genuine. His conversational style was marked by sincerity, making him a confidant to many.

Aaron’s private life was a tapestry woven with simple, yet profound, joys. He found spiritual resonance in the rhythms of music, holding a particular reverence for the soulful strains of bluegrass and the improvisational artistry of the Grateful Dead. An aquarist of considerable passion, he devoted time to the delicate art of breeding fish, finding peace in the quiet observation of aquatic life. His home was a sanctuary shared with his beloved wife, Courtenay, whom he regarded as his other half. Together, they cared for six cats, known affectionately as his cherished “fur babies,” who were the recipients of his boundless affection.

Aaron is survived by his devoted wife, Courtenay Arant of Cadiz, Kentucky; his father and stepmother, Larry and Lora Arant of Brookport, Illinois; and his mother and stepfather, Lynda and Donald Underwood of Cincinnati, Ohio. He leaves behind his sister, Jaime Timmons, and her husband, Sean, of Kennesaw, Georgia, as well as his nephew, Ethan Timmons.

He joins his niece, Devin Timmons, in eternal rest, who preceded him in death.

The legacy Aaron leaves is one of unpretentious kindness and an easygoing spirit that enriched the lives of all who crossed his path.

Friends and family are invited to pay their respects during the visitation on Thursday, January 8, 2026, beginning at 10:00 a.m. at Milner & Orr Funeral Home of Paducah.

Funeral services will commence at 11:00 a.m., followed immediately by interment at Mt. Carmel Cemetery, where Aaron will be laid to rest.

In lieu of flowers, please plant a tree in memory of Aaron.
