A Naples, Florida, man was charged after an investigation into missing money from a Christian County business on December 30th.

Christian County Sheriff’s deputies say a local business reported their computer systems were compromised, resulting in a fraudulent wire transfer. The crime was discovered when the business did not receive a substantial payment that was expected.

The funds were reportedly traced through multiple financial accounts, including a cryptocurrency exchange, before leading to the arrest of 72-year-old Robert Casais on December 30th.

The Christian County Sheriff’s Office, along with law enforcement in Collier County, Florida, collaborated on the investigation.

Casais is charged with second-degree criminal possession of a forged instrument, receiving stolen property, and first-degree unlawful access to a computer.
