Just ahead of Friday’s partisan filing deadline, Trigg County’s 2026 magisterial race only continues to grow.

Thursday afternoon, Trigg County High School Class of 2002 graduate Josh Adams announced his candidacy for District 3 — which as of now is an opposed race, with Jon Goodwin filing this past Tuesday.

Adams has been married to his wife, Sheena, for nearly two decades, where they raise two children — Caiden and Brooklyn — in Cadiz.

Adams has previously served on the Cadiz-Trigg County Planning and Zoning Commission, and for most of his life has lived in this district.

In a public statement on social media, Adams noted his passion for service began as a volunteer firefighter, and he remains committed to “being present, accessible and responsive to the friends and neighbors who make this district home.”

Adams also said he could not imagine calling anywhere other than Cadiz and Trigg County “home,” and it’s his goal to strengthen Trigg County’s quality of life — while preserving the “small-town character” that makes [the] community special.

No stranger to the political scene, Adams lost a chance at this seat by 18 votes in 2022, and he’s hoping to make up that deficit this time around on the ballot.

Along with Adams, Dennis Whitten filed on January 6 to run as a Republican Constable for the Sixth District, while Matthew Clark filed on January 7 to run as a Republican Surveyor for Trigg County.
