
Three men were charged after they reportedly tried to cash a fake check at a bank on East 9th Street in Hopkinsville, Monday afternoon.
Hopkinsville Police say 52-year-old Toby Chaney attempted to cash a check that was fake, claiming he was given the check by 31-year-old Cortavious Benford and 32-year-old Jalen Stanford, who took him to the bank.
Benford and Stanford were reportedly located in a traffic stop. All three suspects were arrested and charged with first-degree criminal possession of a forged instrument and theft by deception.
Chaney was also found to have warrants for second-degree criminal possession of a forged instrument and two counts of theft by deception.
