Dee Steele-Hamm, age 60, passed away on Sunday, January 25, 2026, at her home in Cerulean, Kentucky.
She was born on August 29, 1965, in Sheridan, Illinois, the daughter of the late Janis Louise Larson Fugate.
Dee proudly served in the United States Army for 17 years, demonstrating her dedication to her country. After her military career, she worked at Casey’s General Store in Leland, Illinois, and previously as a cashier at Thornton’s.
Dee was of the Methodist faith. She loved to immerse herself in audiobooks and enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. She was also a devoted animal lover, with a special place in her heart for her dogs and cats.
In addition to her mother, she was preceded in death by her sister, Shannon Loy.
She is survived by her husband, Robert Hamm of Cerulean; her children, Desiree Baker (Kevin Stone) of Mt Zion, Illinois, William Baker of Burkburnett, Texas, and Daniel Baker of Lincoln, Illinois; three grandchildren, Isabella Wear, Capri McKinney, and Charlie Baker; and her stepfather, Jerry Burke of Earlville, Illinois.
A memorial service to celebrate Dee’s life will be held at a later date.
Goodwin Funeral Home, 138 Main Street in Cadiz, is in charge of the arrangements.
