Frankie was born March 20, 1946, the son of the late George Overton and Alice Williams Overton. He was raised in his parents’ home on Butler Road in Hopkinsville, where he spent the first 13 years of his life surrounded by his brother and sisters. Those early years with family left him with a deep sense of love and belonging that carried through the rest of his life.

In 1987, Frankie came to live with Bonnie and Edwin Graham, who cared for him with devotion until Edwin’s passing in 1993. In 1995, Bonnie married Bobby Griffey, and together they continued to provide Frankie with a loving home until 2015. He then moved into the home of Bonnie’s daughter, son-in-law and grandson, Jennifer (Graham), Travis and Joshua Bush, where he remained surrounded by love, family, and comfort. For nearly four decades, Frankie was not just family by choice, but family by heart.

He was preceded in death by his parents, as well as siblings: Georgianna Wilson, Barbara Moore, Linda Spurlin, Donald Wayne Overton, and Bonnie Sue Choate.

He is survived by his sister, Patsy (Jimmy) Wall; along with many beloved nieces and nephews; and by his Graham/Griffey family, including Paul (Mandy Witherspoon) Graham, Pam Graham, Randy (Susan) Graham, Kevin (Kim) Graham, Mark (Angie) Graham, Dana Robinson, Sarah (Roy) Garcia, Matthew Griffey, Ashley A. Griffey, Aaron Griffey, Shane Griffey, and Ashley L. Griffey. Frankie’s circle of love extended far beyond family; he leaves behind a host of friends who cherished and loved him dearly.

Frankie’s gentle spirit, childlike joy, and steadfast presence brought warmth to every life he touched. He will be remembered for the love he gave and the love he received so fully.

The family would like to express their gratitude to Pennyroyal Hospice for their compassionate care and to the many dedicated staff and friends at Pennyroyal Center and Columbus Organization who supported him through the years.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Christian County Rescue Team Inc. and Pennyroyal Hospice.
