Jay McGuire, age 90, of Hopkinsville, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, February 11, 2026, at Bradford Heights Nursing and Rehab of natural causes.
The family has chosen cremation with a Private Family Burial Service to be held at a later date in Illinois. Maddux-Fuqua-Hinton Funeral Home has been entrusted by the family to handle the arrangements.
Jay was born on February 6, 1936, in Wabash County, IL, the son of the late O.D. McGuire and Margaret Jacobs McGuire. He worked for over 40 years in the Automobile Manufacturing Industry retiring from Johnson Controls in Cadiz and was of the Protestant Faith. He was a proud veteran where he served in the United States Army. Jay was the Captain of his Marksmanship Rifle Team of Aberdeen Proving Ground in Maryland. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brother, Steven Michael McGuire.
Survivors include his sister, Kathleen Payne of Dallas, GA; several nieces and one nephew; his special friends, Roger and Marsh Garner of Cadiz, KY; and his first wife and caregiver, Hazel McGuire of Hopkinsville.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made in his memory to a charity of the giver’s choice.
