Wilbert Ray West, 87, of Hopkinsville, passed away on February 15, 2026, in Hopkinsville, KY.
Wilbert, the son of the late Frank West Sr. and Amelia Belle West, was born on August 19, 1938, in Christian County, KY.
Wilbert was a faithful member of Gordonville Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon, youth director, church groundskeeper, member of the cemetery committee, and male chorus member. He was employed by NASCAR, Phelps Dodge, and Skyline Animal Clinic. Wilbert was an entrepreneur who owned West BBQ and a goat farm. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, spending time with grandchildren, and he loved cooking turnip greens. Also, he enjoyed cooking.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Carrie Anna Weaver West; siblings, Charles West, Frank West Jr., Walter R. West, and Ruby Brown; son, David West; and daughter, Jennifer West.
Survivors include his sons, Tony West, Larry West, Jeff West (DeAnna), Ronnie West, and Keith West (Tracey); Siblings, Walter L. Owens, James E. West (Shirley); daughter, Sarah Williams; 14 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; 6 great-great-grandchildren; a host of nieces and nephews.
Gamble Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
Services will be held on Saturday, February 21, 2026, at noon at Mt. Olive Baptist Church.
Burial will follow in the Cave Springs Cemetery.
Visitation will begin Saturday morning at 10:00 am at the church.
