Deepak Dahyabhai Patel, age 61, of Cadiz, Kentucky, passed away peacefully Tuesday, February 24, 2026 surrounded by his loving family, at The Medical Center at Bowling Green, Kentucky.
He was born in Tanzania on October 1, 1964, son to his late father, Dahyabhai Rambhai Patel and his surviving mother, Urmilaben Dahyabhai Patel of Cadiz.
Deepak served as a steadfast champion for Cadiz and Trigg County, including his dedicated leadership as Chairman of the Cadiz-Trigg County Tourism & Convention Commission from 2016 through 2025. His vision, integrity, and tireless work to promote tourism helped strengthen the local economy, elevate the region’s appeal, and nurture the spirit of hospitality that defines the Trigg County community.
In addition to his public service, Deepak was the owner of the Rodeway Inn, where he welcomed visitors with the same commitment and pride he showed in his role on the Commission. His work in both business and community leadership reflected his deep love for this region and its future.
He is survived by his loving wife of 37 years, Rita Patel of Cadiz; son, Primal Patel (Arya) and daughter, Danika Cheruku (Shanthan), both of Chicago, Illinois; mother, Urmilaben Dahyabhai Patel of Cadiz; sisters, Daksha B. Patel (Bharat) of Paintsville, Kentucky and Rupali Mangu (Yogesh) of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma and his nieces and nephews, Dennis Patel (Carry), Hiran Patel, Chandni Mangu Zaver (Sheev) and Vaishali Mangu.
The funeral arrangements are being handled by Goodwin Funeral Home, Inc., 138 Main Street in Cadiz, Kentucky, where the family will receive friends from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM, Friday, February 27, 2026.
A private family cremation ceremony will be held at the conclusion of the visitation at the cremation care center of Goodwin Funeral Home in Cadiz.
