Community Gathers for 30th Modernette African-American Heritage Breakfast

The Modernette Civic Club celebrated its 30th Annual African-American Heritage Breakfast Saturday morning at the Bruce Convention Center in Hopkinsville.

The event spotlights African American heritage while raising funds for local scholarships. This year’s keynote speaker was Kentucky Supreme Court Justice Pamela R. Goodwine, the first African American woman to serve on the state’s highest court.

Modernette member Theresa Franklin-Hill says the milestone reflects years of growth and community support.

Franklin-Hill says the club’s work goes beyond the annual breakfast.

Fellow member Eugenia Snorton-Davis says the celebration helps ensure heritage remains at the forefront.

Proceeds from the breakfast benefit scholarships for local graduating seniors, along with other community initiatives supported by the Modernette Civic Club throughout the year.
