In a message to families, Christian County Public Schools said creating or sharing manipulated images of a minor—especially those that are inappropriate or misleading—is illegal and can carry serious consequences.

District leaders say the problem often happens outside the school day but still impacts students’ safety and well-being when the images are shared online or through group chats.

In a video message to parents, Superintendent Chris Bentzel said students now have access to powerful technology that can easily be misused.

Bentzel said even when the images are artificially created, the damage to students can be serious.

School leaders are asking parents to talk with their children about responsible technology use, including digital consent and respect for others online.

Bentzel says families play a key role in stopping the problem.

Bentzel says the district is also moving to update its policies to address the issue directly.

School officials also encourage parents and students to report concerning content, save evidence of messages or images, and contact law enforcement if necessary.

For now, district leaders say the focus remains on protecting students and reinforcing responsible use of technology.
