Born on May 16, 1961, on a U.S. military base in Stuttgart, Germany, to James “Jim” Ray Eli and Alice Carol Eli, she would later return with her family to the States. Jennifer met her husband at the age of 17 at a Halloween party, where he was comically dressed as a woman. From the beginning, their bond was certainly one of fun times and good humor. Her family fondly recalls her love of poking fun at or with the people she felt closest to. She was a woman of many hats, putting in many hours as the Trustee at West Macedonia Cemetery and serving as an officer at the Moose Lodge. She was very intelligent, and her favorite job was working in the laboratory at the U.S. Smokeless Tobacco Company in Hopkinsville. In her free time, she loved expressing her creativity by making wreaths and floral arrangements. Most of all, her family describes her as a loving mother who will be deeply missed, wintergreen lifesaver mints and all.
In addition to her father, she is preceded in death by her brother, Marty Eli.
She is survived by her husband of 47 years, Edgar Griffith; her daughters: Julia (Mark) Griffith, Jessica Griffith, and Shaela Brown; her grandchildren: Shaela Brown, Matthew Brown, Jason Brown, Devin Brown, Emily Griffith, Camden Birge, Collin Birge, and Conrad Griffith; and her mother, Alice Eli.
