A two-time Tennessee ‘Farmer of the Year’ will be the guest speaker during the annual Trigg County Agriculture Appreciation Dinner on Tuesday evening.
Ag Extension Agent David Fourqurean said he thinks it’s the first time a farmer has spoken at the annual event.
George McDonald is the owner and operator of Catesa Farms in Riddleton, Tennessee, where he manages over 9,000 acres of diverse crops, including corn, soybeans, and watermelons. A multi-generational farmer and two-time recipient of the honor, he was named the 2024 Tennessee Farmer of the Year for his commitment to agricultural advocacy, sustainability, and business diversification.
The doors to the Trigg County Recreation Complex will open at 5:00 PM on Tuesday, with dinner catered by Hancock’s Neighborhood Market to be served at 6:00.
Fourqurean added that awards for ‘Outstanding Youth in Agriculture,’ ‘Friend of Agriculture,’ and ‘Ag Business of the Year’ will be doled out during the dinner. Additionally, donations will be presented to various Trigg County non-profits.
Admission is free for the entire community; however, those wishing to give back may bring non-perishable food donations for Helping Hands of Trigg County.
