
Two students from Kenwood Middle School in Clarksville were killed in a school bus crash in Carroll County, Tennessee, on Friday.
According to the Tennessee Highway Patrol, troopers responded to the crash on Highway 70 around noon Friday involving a Tennessee Department of Transportation dump truck, a passenger vehicle, and a Montgomery County school bus.
Troopers said two students on the school bus were killed, and several other students and adults were injured, with some of the injured airlifted to trauma centers in Nashville and Memphis.
Police reported that the school bus was transporting students on a field trip when the crash occurred.
Authorities said the cause of the crash remains under investigation.
Clarksville Mayor Joe Pitts responded to Friday’s tragic school bus crash, expressing deep sadness for the families affected and urging the community to focus on supporting those impacted rather than speculating on the cause.
He encouraged everyone to rally together and provide comfort and care to all who are mourning in the wake of this heartbreaking tragedy.
