A property exchange wasn’t the only focus of last week’s Trigg County Hospital Board of Directors meeting.

President & CEO John Sumner confirmed that, last year, officials worked with Spurr Architecture in order to look at a possible remodel of Primary Care’s outside facade.

A conversation with architect Chris Spurr, Sumner said, has led to bidding out the project — just to get a cost estimate to bring back to the group.

Sumner also confirmed that the hospital currently owns a $75,000 deductible on buildings & grounds, which covers roughly $60 million worth of buildings.

By April’s board meeting, Sumner said he would have further cost estimates on raising the deductible.

Meanwhile, Jodi Wilson, Trigg County’s compliance officer, said the campus phone system remodel and upgrade is complete, but in the wake has left more than 150 antiquated phones needing a home.

A couple, she said, have about a value of around $20, however a handful of them have a value north of $250. The system, though, does need a critical Cisco Systems server, which is expensive for anyone wishing to buy them. Expect for the hospital to briefly explore bids, and if those are rejected, it’s possible the phones will be donated to a needy non-profit organization.

Don Michael, the hospital’s chief financial officer, also noted that revenue for February was north of $6 million, up 20% from last year, however expenses were also up 15% over last year. Increased services, he said, include labs, pharmacy, cardiac rehab and surgery.

Net income for the hospital over the last 10 months: $4.2 million.
