A special event is bringing the community together this spring, as the Trooper Cameron Ponder Softball Tournament takes the field at Tie Breaker Park on Eagle Way.

Event organizer Mark Nichols says the event is set for Saturday, April 25th. The tournament is more than just a day of competition—it’s a way to honor Trooper Cameron Ponder while supporting a meaningful cause. Proceeds from the event will go toward the Cameron Ponder Scholarship, helping students in the community pursue their futures.

Teams will compete throughout the day, with additional activities including raffle prizes, concessions, and family-friendly entertainment like a bouncer. Organizers say the event is designed to bring people together while giving back in a lasting way.

Kentucky State Police Trooper Joseph ‘Cameron’ Ponder was fatally shot on September 13, 2015, while conducting a routine traffic stop on Interstate 24 in Lyon County.

There is still time to enter your own team for $300; all entries must be in by April 15th. For more information, call Mark Nichols at 270-874-8491.
