Now in the height of hiring season for local education, plenty of jobs are open at Christian County Public Schools.
That’s according to the district’s Teacher Recruiter Bev Fort, who, during Thursday night’s update to the CCPS Board of Education, noted that — as of April 16 — 19 teachers are needed for elementary schools, four are needed in the middle schools and eight at the new high school.
Meanwhile, Fort said 11 teachers are about to graduate from the district’s sponsored Master of Arts in Teaching program.
The CCPS Teaching and Learning Pathway, she added, had 45 students enrolled this year, and more than 60 are expected to be part of the program during the 2026-27 academic calendar.
Fort also requested the hiring of an Advanced Coursework Coordinator for the district, which would be a teacher-level position responsible for aligning efforts in the academy model.
She noted the position was already within the school’s general fund staffing allocation, while Fort and Superintendent Chris Bentzel confirmed both the new high school, as well as the Murray State Regional Campus, will host advanced placement classes — all taught by CCPS employees.
The board approved it.
Teacher Signing Day, where graduating students commit to an education career back at CCPS, is scheduled for April 28.
