When it comes to the Annual Cadiz Rotary Radio Auction, every nickel matters.

Late Friday night, and almost into Saturday morning, at the Baptist Annex, officials with its 59th rendition had only good news to share about this week’s fundraising efforts.

This year’s Century Club earned $242,495.97.

This year’s sponsors gifted $17,500.

Fill the Pits, the WJ Hopson Breakfast auction, the live and online auctions and the country store brought in $171,104.08.

And specific giving toward the coming Trigg County Veterans Memorial, not including a promised $100,000 Rotary match, totaled $103,095.

Add it up, and it comes out to $534,195 and five cents, a nickel that someday will surely be needed for the youth and seniors of Trigg County.

Club President Beth Sumner shared her emotions on the week.

Auction co-chairs Angela St. Clair and Vonda Wilson, meanwhile, offered their closing thoughts alongside Edge Media Group President/CEO and Rotarian Beth Mann.

Among Friday’s major items included a trip to Belize, custom concrete, a carport, two nights in a floating cabin at Prizer Point, Audibel digital hearing aids, a Koehler generator, a smaller rendition of “Big Alice” known as “Little Alice,” and a Casey Jones bourbon trio with a special American flag — tied closely to the Fort Campbell 9.

Auctioneer Alana Baker-Dunn said it was hotly contested.

She and Auctioneer J.B. Moore also made it clear: Rotary’s work through this next calendar begins now.

Mann said it was the “biggest Friday night ever,” as far as items were considered, with more than 100 online and 120 items in person.

Trigg County Hospital officials worked the phones, wearing specialized T-shirts declaring “If the phones ain’t ringin’, the bell ain’t dingin’.”

Items can be picked up Saturday from 8 AM until noon at the Baptist Annex.
