Brenda Gail Mitchell passed away on April 19, 2026, at Vanderbilt Hospital of natural causes after a hard-fought battle with myeloid leukemia.
She was born February 26, 1966, the youngest of five children of the late Donald and Dora Jackson.
She was a beloved wife, mother and most of all a grandmother. Known to all of her 10 grandchildren simply as “NANA”. She loved to fish and be outdoors, but most of all she loved just simply spending time with all of her grandchildren and her best friend and husband, Eddie Mitchell, known to all as “POPPY”.
Preceding her in death was her father, Donald Jackson, and her mother, Dora Jackson.
Surviving her is Death; her best friend and husband of 18 years: Eddie Mitchell of Crofton, KY; her brother: Randy Jackson (Rosa) of Crofton, KY; her sister: Betty Stewart (Wilford) of Hopkinsville, KY and Marilyn Wells (Kenneth) of Crofton, KY; her son: Chris Powell (Laura) of Apex, KY; her daughter: Rebecca Miller (Kyle) of Apex, KY; and her 10 grandchildren: Kadince Powell, Laci Leek, Makayla Blanford (Cole), Alexis Long (Arron), Stephan Miller, Amber Powell, Leah Hull, Hunter Powell, Calam Miller, and Shawna Miller.
The family requests that any memorial contributions be put towards Leukemia Research in Brenda Gail Mitchell’s name.
